Note - Hole In The Wall Fires – Hearths Recommended

Open-fronted ‘Hole-in-the-Wall’ fires:There has been some confusion about the necessity for fitting a hearth with this type of gas fire. Whilst hearths do not always look pleasing in this context, most manufacturers ‘recommend’ the use of a hearth as a safety precaution against people getting too close to the fire (and risking burns or setting clothes on fire), however, it is not a legal requirement in most cases where the fire is positioned above the required minimum height from the floor. In these cases, it is permissible to fit the fire without a hearth, but we include this note to make customers aware of the situation and the reasons for recommending the use of a hearth.
